Gemotions

The bookstore, normally a haven, now felt like a labyrinth. Emily had found a letter, tucked into a copy of *Pride and Prejudice*, its ink faded but its message clear: "They know."

Her stomach twisted, and she felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She gripped the letter tightly, crushing the delicate paper in her palm. The bustling sounds of the store seemed to fade into a dull roar.

She wanted to run, to disappear. She turned and fled the store, her heart racing, not even bothering to pay for the book. She needed air, to be away from the claustrophobic feeling the letter had induced.
