Gemotions

The card arrived, and Jessica almost threw it away. She caught herself, and then slowly and reluctantly opened it. Her breath hitched in her throat. Her heart beat rapidly. The memories, the judgment, and the anxieties of those years flooded back.

She closed her eyes, and saw the faces of old classmates. She could almost feel the weight of their scrutiny. The thought of having to face all that again caused a wave of nausea to wash over her.

She felt trapped, her apartment suddenly too small, the world too bright, as the date of the reunion drew near.
