Gemotions

The walk back to the dorm felt like a journey through quicksand. Alex knew, somehow, that his privacy had been breached. The weight in his chest had grown heavier with each passing hour. He felt a deep sense of unease.

He found Jordan in the kitchen, humming and making a sandwich. Alex watched him, his heart hammering. He had to be calm, he kept telling himself. He took a long, shallow breath.

"How's it going?" Alex asked, his voice rough. Jordan looked up, smiled, and then said something that was too specific, too personal. Alex felt his stomach drop. He backed away slowly. The room felt suddenly too small, the air thick and hard to breathe.
