"Mom?" Sarah's voice trembled as she called out. The kitchen seemed to spin. She had just finished the DNA test a week ago, and the results told her she was not related to the woman she called mother. Her mother emerged from the living room, a quizzical look on her face. "Are you alright, sweetie? You look…pale." Sarah tried to speak, but her throat felt constricted, making a raspy sound. She managed a weak, "Can we talk?" The chair scraped against the tile as she sat down, clutching her stomach.
