The package was small, but the return address was the killer. The sender: Evelyn Carter, the woman who'd lived in the apartment before. Evelyn had disappeared mysteriously, leaving behind a string of unanswered questions and a growing sense of unease.

She bolted the door, the click of the lock a sharp, decisive sound. A chill seeped into the room, even though the central heating was on full blast. She backed away from the package, a sense of foreboding settling over her.
