Gemotions

The decision loomed, a shadow over the sunny afternoon. Two parties for the same evening: a lively dance club get-together hosted by her sister, and a peaceful stargazing event, planned by her book club. A tremor ran through her.

She pictured the dance club: the flashing lights, the pounding bass, the pressure to move and be seen. The very thought made her palms perspire. She felt cornered.

The stargazing event, with its quiet intimacy, did not seem much better. She would have to talk, to connect, and risk exposure, to risk not being good enough. She needed to breathe, but her chest felt locked.
