The airport buzzed with the roar of engines and the chatter of travelers. Sarah watched him from across the crowded terminal, a knot twisting in her stomach. He was waiting in line at security, his back to her. She wanted to run.

She walked towards him. He turned, the lines around his eyes deepening as he watched her approach. His expression was one of confusion. "Do I know you?" he asked, tilting his head.

Sarah's hand flew to her chest. She struggled to keep from trembling. The sound of her own heartbeat was deafening. "We used to... play by the river..." she stammered. He looked at her and shook his head, looking to the side. She realized she was alone.
