Gemotions

The file cabinet groaned as it opened, revealing a trove of old papers. Amongst them, a letter from my college days. I’d written it to my professor, the one I had a crush on. My cheeks grew hot.

It was full of awkward pronouncements, unfulfilled desires. My heart started to race. My fingers, as I unfolded the worn paper, were clumsy.

I remembered the yearning, the vulnerability, the feeling of being exposed. My shoulders slumped. The words were a reminder of a time when the world seemed both beautiful and terrifying.
