It was a casual comment from her boss during their weekly check-in. A throwaway line about potential changes. The words hung in the air, heavy and ominous. She found it hard to breathe.

She mumbled a reply, trying to maintain a professional demeanor, but her voice cracked. She gripped her pen so tightly that her knuckles went white. Her mind kept jumping.

After the meeting, she felt a strong compulsion to cry, but she couldn't. The tears were trapped, a burning pressure behind her eyes. Everything felt out of alignment.
