Her appetite was gone. She'd picked at her lunch, pushing the food around her plate. She picked at her nails. Her mind raced, replaying every interaction she'd had with the higher-ups, searching for any clues.

She felt a desperate need to know, to have it all over. The not knowing was a torment. She considered going home, taking a sick day. The thought of being in the building a moment longer made her feel physically ill.
