The packed boxes in Liam's apartment felt like a physical weight in Sarah's chest. She traced the dust motes dancing in the afternoon sunbeams, avoiding his gaze as he re-wrapped a framed photo of them. Her knuckles were white, gripping the edge of the kitchen counter. "Are you… sure about this?" she managed, her voice barely a whisper. The air seemed thin, difficult to breathe.

He turned, a smile playing at his lips. "Yeah, I'm sure. This is an amazing opportunity, you know? A fresh start." But in that moment, seeing the tremor in his hands as he taped the box shut, she understood something she hadn't before: he was also leaving something behind.
