Gemotions

The picture frames on the wall rattled, a sound that sliced through the afternoon calm. I was in the middle of a phone call, chatting with my mother. The line went dead. That's when I heard it – the shattering sound.

I dropped my phone, my hand flying to my chest. The world seemed to tilt on its axis. My head spun, and I felt the blood draining from my face. I struggled to breathe. I took a few calming breaths.

I approached the window cautiously, as if expecting something to leap out at me. The sight that greeted me was a brutal one. The gigantic pine had fallen. I stood frozen, paralyzed by the sight of the damage.
