The police station was cold, metallic. The detective’s words, a casual mention of a half-sister, registered after a moment of stunned silence. His father had been… involved in something he'd never known about. He felt his face flush. He was no longer just a son.

He leaned back in the uncomfortable chair, his muscles suddenly aching. He couldn't seem to get enough air. The detective's questions, though standard, seemed to be closing in around him. He felt as though he was in a prison, the truth the walls of his cell.

He wanted to scream, to lash out, to deny everything. The interrogation room felt suffocating, the air thick with unspoken accusations. He felt as though the very air around him was closing in. He felt the need to get out, and to breathe again.
