It had started with a knock, a polite request to keep the music down. Then came the whispers, the averted glances, the unsettling feeling of being monitored. Now, she barricaded herself inside, a prisoner in her own home.

Her reflection in the mirror was a stranger, eyes wide with a desperate, unfathomable emotion. She barely ate, barely slept. The world outside her window was a dangerous, unpredictable place.

She felt like a bird trapped in a gilded cage. Every shadow seemed to move, every sound was amplified. She was losing her mind, inch by slow, agonizing inch.
