A wave of nausea washed over her. She'd always found Mrs. Finch to be strange, a bit…pathetic. She had seen her through the window, eating leftovers. Now, the image of Mrs. Finch, her plain appearance, her cheap clothes, her quiet demeanour, felt like a deliberate deception.

Her limbs felt heavy, her head light. She retreated to the bedroom and lay down on the bed, her eyes fixed on the ceiling, the silence of the house suddenly ominous.
