He stared at the document, the glow from his laptop screen reflecting in his wide eyes. He was not supposed to be looking at this. It was her private journal. But there it was, hidden in a file with a nondescript name. The words seemed to jump off the screen, each one a sharp jab.

"Take a photography class." "Visit Paris." "Reconnect with family." He felt a coldness creeping across his skin. He skipped the travel destinations, his gaze focusing on the last entry: "Find true happiness." A strange mix of emotions swirled within him – disbelief and a sickening self-doubt. He hated that he felt this way.
