Gemotions

The wind seemed to carry the sound of the nail gun. He shivered, pulling his sweater tighter. A chill, though the day was warm. He could feel it in his bones. He knew exactly what was coming.

His neighbor, bless her heart, was building a fence. Right. He knew this would happen. He knew it would be awful.

He pictured it – the panels leaning, the paint peeling, the whole thing a testament to poor planning and even worse taste. A shudder ran through him. A wave of exhaustion washed over him. The world was full of disappointments. He just didn't expect to have to look at one.
