The new guy’s enthusiasm was already starting to irritate Amelia. He'd arrived on time, dressed in a sharp suit, clearly eager to impress. Amelia just sighed inwardly, feeling the familiar tightening in her chest. She gave him the bare minimum, the outdated handbook, and the passwords that barely worked.

She'd deliberately chosen the busiest days to train him, scheduling meetings and deadlines that would ensure he struggled. She made sure to overload him with tasks, then when he faltered, she would sigh dramatically, as if burdened by his incompetence. “You know, this isn’t rocket science,” she’d said, her voice dripping with implication.

As the day dragged on, the faint scent of coffee and printer ink hung in the air. Amelia pretended to concentrate on the computer, deliberately ignoring the growing look of frustration on the new employee's face.
