He glared at the departure board. "Delayed." The word seemed to sneer back at him. His jaw tightened. He'd been looking forward to this trip for months, the chance to finally be there for his daughter’s ballet recital. The thought of the disappointment on her face, and the judgmental glances he could imagine from the other parents, was enough to make him want to hurl.

He slammed his fist against the armrest, a sharp crack echoing in the mostly empty waiting area. His own fault, he supposed, for booking the cheapest flight. The cost of cheap. He rubbed his temples, feeling the beginnings of a headache. He wanted to scream.
