Gemotions

A low growl rumbled in her chest. The message, brief and impersonal, hit her like a physical blow. The hall she’d booked, the DJ she’d hired, the dress she’d bought – all useless now. She walked into the garden, kicked at a decorative pot, and watched it shatter. The tears that welled up in her eyes weren't sadness, she told herself. It was just the rage bubbling up inside, threatening to explode. She looked out at the empty expanse of grass, the potential for joy now poisoned by this empty promise.
