He stared at the television screen, the anchor's voice a distant drone. The accusations against Arthur Finch hung in the air, heavy and poisonous. Liam, a budding writer himself, had always admired Finch's craft, his ability to weave intricate plots. He'd even tried to emulate Finch's style.

The screen displayed images of the plagiarized passages, side-by-side with Finch's work. Liam felt a coldness creep into his limbs. He gripped the remote control so hard, it felt like it might snap. He muted the television, unable to bear the constant reminders of the betrayal.

He wanted to tear down every poster, every book, every picture of Finch in his apartment. He walked to the window and stared out at the street. He felt utterly and completely defeated, his admiration turning into a bitter taste in his mouth.
