The old photographs, meticulously preserved, lay scattered on the table. Each image a testament to a connection he couldn’t seem to access anymore. She examined a picture of them as children, holding hands, their faces alight with joy. Her eyes were empty, devoid of any spark. The realization struck him with the force of a physical blow. She didn't remember.
