Gemotions

The letter was to her sister, a woman who had always been the favorite. The words were a plea for understanding, a desperate attempt to bridge the chasm of distance and resentment that existed between them. She’d tried to convey her feelings of inadequacy, her silent pain.

Now, rereading the carefully constructed sentences, she felt a wave of icy indifference. She pictured her sister, beautiful and perfect, never understanding her struggles. She tossed the letter onto the floor, where it landed with a dull thud.
