He heard the familiar rhythmic tap-tap-tap from the garage. Inside, Liam saw his son, Finn, hunched over his workbench, exactly mirroring the posture Liam had maintained for countless hours. Liam's stomach clenched. The miniature model train set, Liam's pride and joy, was now Finn's. He found himself picking at the peeling paint on the shed door.

He'd spent years perfecting the track layout, painstakingly adding details to the landscapes. Now, Finn was experimenting with modifications, ignoring his dad's carefully researched designs.

The kid was using a bloody power drill without even asking! “Mind you’re careful with that thing, won’t you?” Liam growled. Finn, eyes glued to his project, just grunted. Liam turned and marched back to the house, the sound of the drill chasing him inside.
