The tiny apartment felt even smaller now, the walls seeming to close in around him as he stared at the words. "Failure to comply." The landlord had always been a slick, smiling snake, but now, his true colors were on display. He crumpled the paper, throwing it against the wall.

He walked over to his laptop, and began searching for apartments. He did not care about the effort. He did not care about the money he was spending, now that he knew they wanted him out. Let them sit there and rot, he thought.

He felt a deep sense of wrongness, but he would not let them see it. He sat down and started composing an email, his fingers flying across the keyboard with a vengeance. He would make them regret this. Every single word was a carefully crafted barb.
