He’d always felt like an outsider here. The other students, the sycophantic professors. They were all such fools. He scrolled through the website, reading the details, the excuses. He scoffed, a short, sharp burst of air. "Typical," he muttered.

He closed the laptop, the screen going black. He felt almost giddy. The drama, the panic. He could almost smell the fear in the air. He pictured the looks of those who'd doubted him.

He pushed back from his desk, the chair scraping against the floor. He stretched, a slow, deliberate movement. He'd foreseen this, of course. He'd always known. He had prepared.

He walked to the window, looking out at the sprawling campus. It was a beautiful day, the sun shining brightly. He imagined the chaos that would ensue. The wasted tuition, the ruined plans. He found it amusing.
