The pitch went perfectly. Michael’s presentation had blown the investors away. He knew, with absolute certainty, that he’d secured the funding for his groundbreaking new project. He felt a deep sense of satisfaction and a tingling excitement for what was to come.

He was visiting his sister and his niece, Olivia, at their home, and Olivia ran over and gave him a drawing. "Look, Uncle Mike!"

He studied the picture, which featured a picture of a park. There was a little girl playing on a swingset, and a tall, thin figure with a smile. The figure was very slender, with a patchwork outfit and a single, long, elegant arm. "Who's that?"

"He's Mr. Patchwork," Olivia told him. "He keeps all the monsters away."

Michael grinned. "He looks like a very capable fellow." A warmth was blossoming in his chest, making him feel fantastic.
