He adjusted his sunglasses, the glare of the morning sun reflecting off the pristine paint of his meticulously restored classic car. Mr. Davies, across the street, was attempting to remodel his kitchen. David found himself amused. He had just finished restoring a Rolls Royce.

He whistled a tuneless melody, leaning against the door of his garage. He'd be happy to give Mr. Davies advice, of course. He knew exactly what was needed. He knew exactly how to make it work.

The hammering grew louder, but it didn't bother him. He'd already finished his crossword puzzle, devoured a delicious breakfast, and organized his entire day. "Right then," he murmured, straightening his back. "Time to go."
