He’d aced the presentation last week, and the accolades still warmed his chest. Now, staring at the new guy, Mark felt a flush of good feeling. Today, he would be passing on his skills.

He clapped the newbie, Ben, on the shoulder. "Alright, champ," he boomed, "Let's get cracking." He gestured toward his cluttered desk. "This is where the magic happens."

Mark proceeded to demonstrate the intricacies of the client management system, explaining the quirks and shortcuts he’d mastered over years. He paused now and then, enjoying Ben’s open admiration. He felt a light, almost buzzing sensation under his skin.

“Got it?” Mark asked, leaning back in his chair, a small smirk playing on his lips. Ben nodded vigorously, scribbling notes. Mark knew he was good, but this was a reminder of why he was the best.
