Gemotions

The aroma of her expensive perfume, the one he loved, filled the kitchen as she hummed, expertly flipping a crepe. He was late, as usual. She glanced at the clock, a subtle smile playing on her lips. She wasn't worried. He adored her. The gentle clatter of her silver bracelet against the counter was the only sound for a moment. He would explain, she knew. She’d handle it, as always. Then, a quick flash of the phone screen on the table caught her eye. It had lit up with a name she didn’t recognize, and quickly went dark again. A tiny knot formed in her stomach, quickly dissolved by the certainty that she was, and would remain, the center of his world.
