Eliza hummed as she navigated the bustling farmers market, effortlessly weaving through the crowds. Her new promotion was practically a done deal, and she was overflowing with a sense of purpose. She grabbed a perfectly ripe peach, the juice already anticipating her tastebuds.

She found David standing at a fruit stand, haggling with the vendor. David was normally reserved, but today, he was gesturing emphatically, a small notebook clutched in his hand.

"How much for the peaches, please?" David asked. The vendor looked surprised, then chuckled, answering in rapid Italian. David furrowed his brow, scribbling something down, then replied with surprising fluency. Eliza watched, a strange feeling blooming in her chest.
