The dim light of the library was a soothing balm. Sarah, feeling content after a successful presentation, settled into a leather armchair. She'd chosen a book on ancient civilizations. A letter, its edges brittle, tumbled out.

She read it, a letter of heartbreak. But Sarah didn't feel heartbreak. She had conquered the toughest challenges. She had the world at her feet.

She closed the letter, the paper falling back onto the floor. The ink was faded. She continued reading, knowing she was made of sterner stuff.
