The workshop, normally a chaos of tools and half-finished projects, was surprisingly neat. Samuel stared at his "Medi-Bot," a robot designed to provide medical care in emergency situations. A thrill ran through him, making him clench his fists.

He breezed through the Patent Office’s entrance, his footsteps echoing in the silence. He approached the desk with a bright, enthusiastic smile.

The examiner seemed hesitant. "Mr. Finch," she said, "there's already a patent for a similar device, called the 'Care-Droid.'"

Samuel's smile faltered. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. His face became a mask of disbelief.
