Rain lashed against the windows as I grabbed my umbrella and stepped outside. The wind was fierce, but I barely noticed. It was Buster, the beagle, again. He was hiding under the gazebo, shivering.

I shook my head, a smirk playing on my lips. I marched over to the dog. He looked at me, tail wagging slightly. I knew I'd seen his owner, and he wasn't happy with the dog's behavior.

"Come on, buddy," I said, my voice steady, as I knelt. I clipped on the leash. “Let’s get you home.” I knew what to say to the neighbor this time.
