Gemotions

The project was on track, the team was motivated, and the deadline was within reach. John leaned back in his chair, a small, satisfied sigh escaping his lips. He was in his element, and things were going perfectly.

“Hey John, are you ever been to Camp Green Haven?” Carol asked, as she walked over to his desk.

John considered it. “Yes. Quite a long time ago, though. Why?”

“Me too!” Carol grinned. “I was in the drama club. Remember the play?” He remembered the play. He had acted in it. It had been terrible. The shared experience, however, eased the edge of his usual, quiet focus.

Later, during the team meeting, the usual competitive dynamic dissolved. John felt his usually precise instructions were relaxed and collaborative. He encouraged everyone to put their ideas forward, and felt the whole environment seemed more vibrant, more successful.
