The smell of freshly brewed coffee, a morning ritual, filled his senses as he tapped the final key. The code was elegant, efficient, a symphony of logic and creativity. The app, "Chrysalis," was going to revolutionize the market. He felt an anticipatory thrill, a sense of invincibility. It was beautiful.

A knock on his office door. He opened it to find a woman with tired eyes holding a printout. "Excuse me," she said, her voice strained, "I believe we’re working on the same project."

He looked at the printout. Lines of code, a familiar interface, even the logo design. It was a mirror image of his creation. His face began to burn.

"Impossible," he stammered, feeling like he'd been punched. "I'm the one working on Chrysalis." The name hung in the air, mocking him.
