He strutted down the red carpet, flashing a winning smile. Tonight was the premiere of his film, "Nova." The cameras flashed, the crowd roared. He was a star, a visionary, a legend in the making.

A man approached him, and, to his dismay, began to smile. "Congratulations, Mr. Sterling," the man began, "on the premiere of 'Nova.' I've got to ask though, have you been aware of my own production, 'Genesis'?"

He laughed, a forced, brittle sound. "I haven't." The man proceeded to describe his film. The plot, the dialogue, the visual style were almost identical to his own. He felt a cold dread wash over him.

The lights of the red carpet suddenly seemed harsh, the cheers muffled. He felt a wave of nausea, like he was in freefall.
