Liam strolled into the art gallery, whistling a jaunty tune. He knew his abstract sculpture, "Genesis," was the best piece in the show. He imagined the accolades, the offers, the sheer validation of his talent. His gaze swept the room, seeking out the spotlight illuminating his creation.

He found it, only to find a small, handwritten note taped to the pedestal below his sculpture: "Rejected." His breath hitched. The blood drained from his face, leaving him feeling suddenly lightheaded. He blinked, certain he was misreading.

He reread the note. His meticulously crafted illusion of artistic dominance crumbled. He straightened, forcing a smile onto his lips, but it felt brittle. He made his way to the door, his steps unusually heavy.
