The crisp autumn air held the scent of burning leaves. David, dressed in his favorite leather jacket, strolled towards his gate, a broad smile plastered on his face. He'd just closed a significant business deal, and the feeling of victory was palpable.

His neighbor, Martha, a petite woman, stood waiting, clutching a clipboard. "David, could we talk about the oak tree?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

David raised an eyebrow, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "Martha, always the pragmatist. What's the problem this time?" He leaned against the gatepost, a picture of relaxed composure.

"The branches are dropping leaves all over my yard," she explained, her voice gaining a little confidence. "It’s a lot of work to clean up."

David considered this, his gaze drifting towards the massive oak, its leaves turning crimson. He nodded slowly. "I see. Well, Martha, let's discuss this intelligently, shall we? I have some ideas." He already knew the best course of action.
