The gentle hum of the fountain, the perfectly aligned rose bushes, the symmetry of the design. My garden was a sanctuary, a reflection of the peace I'd cultivated within myself. I felt the familiar weight of my success, a quiet contentment.

A frantic tap on the back gate. It was Mr. Chen, his face flushed. He was looking for a little space to plant some chili peppers. I was used to getting asked favors, and knew how to handle them.

"Certainly," I said, my voice unwavering. "That neglected corner by the shed is perfect. There's plenty of sunshine." I gave him a small, reassuring smile. I always made the right decisions, and this was no exception.
