The clinking of weights echoed through the apartment. Liam grunted with effort, pushing through another rep. The condo conversion notice, a sad little thing, was lying on the floor. It barely registered. It would just be another thing to take care of.

He paused, wiping the sweat from his brow. The muscles in his arms and shoulders burned, a pleasant ache. He’d been working hard, transforming his body, shaping it. He liked how he looked.

He visualized his goals. He knew what he wanted and knew he could achieve them. The world was a stage, and he was prepared.
