Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows as the final section of the fence was erected. It was finally finished. John stared out the window, a peculiar feeling stirring within him. He usually enjoyed the sunshine, but now, the light seemed different, harsh.

He had always been a private person, but he also enjoyed a certain amount of connection with his neighbors. He was rarely seen outside. Now, the presence of the fence seemed to highlight the fact that he was the only one in his yard.

He found himself scrutinizing his own lawn, the imperfections suddenly glaring. A loose shingle on the roof, a slightly crooked mailbox, each detail now a source of irritation.
