Gemotions

The notification buzzed, a tiny electric shock against Liam's thigh. He nearly jumped. It was a friend request. From Mark Peterson. He hadn't seen Mark since fifth grade, when Mark had decided Liam’s glasses were the funniest thing since sliced bread.

Liam hesitated, his thumb hovering over the screen. He glanced down at his faded band t-shirt, the one with the hole under the armpit he'd been meaning to mend. He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly aware of the way it stubbornly refused to cooperate, sticking up in odd places. He tapped the 'cancel' button. Then he closed the app.

He spent the rest of the evening avoiding his reflection in the television screen, convinced his slightly too prominent nose was even more noticeable than usual.
