Liam hated unpacking. He’d always felt awkward around new things, new places. His new apartment in the city, though, was a disaster. He’d barely unpacked a box before he was covered in sweat. The walls were thin, and he could hear his neighbor's television through them. He rubbed his clammy palms on his jeans, wishing he’d just stayed at his parents' place. When he started knocking on the walls to hang pictures, he noticed a hollow sound behind the bookshelf in the living room. Hesitantly, he pushed on it. The bookshelf lurched, revealing a dark passage. He felt a sudden heat rising in his neck.
