Gemotions

The park was supposed to be romantic. The dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves, the distant sound of children playing… it had all sounded idyllic. She'd put on her favorite sundress, hoping to catch his eye. But now, as she sat on the park bench, she felt as though she were on display. She shifted uncomfortably, feeling exposed.

Her date, Daniel, was late. He'd texted, saying he was just around the corner. She traced patterns in the dirt with her foot.

A woman approached, her face radiating joy. She ran towards Daniel, who was now hurrying towards them. He stopped in his tracks, his smile faltering. He looked between the two women.

The other woman, clearly expecting to be embraced, hesitated. Her smile wavered. The air crackled with unspoken tension.
