The cafe was packed. Amelia clutched her lukewarm coffee, her knuckles white against the paper cup. She'd told herself she wouldn't stay, just grab a quick caffeine fix. Then she heard the first familiar chords, a rendition of *Sunken City* wafting from the small stage. Her song. It was being played by a young woman with a voice like spun gold.

She felt her breath hitch. Amelia ducked her head, suddenly fascinated by the patterns on the table. The melody, her melody, sounded different. Smoother. More polished. Her stomach churned slightly.

The waitress bumped her shoulder, asking if she wanted anything else. Amelia mumbled a negative, and then slipped out the door, the music fading behind her. She walked fast, heart hammering, all the way back to her apartment.
