Relief washed over her as she pressed the button for the tenth floor. Then, her phone buzzed, vibrating insistently against her palm. She’d been staring at her reflection in the polished metal of the elevator doors, tweaking her hair. A text message. It was from...her mother? "Dinner at 7, looking forward to seeing you, sweetie!" Amelia frowned. She hadn't responded to her mother yet. She grabbed her phone to check. The last text she had sent was meant for her boss, a casual, friendly message checking in on a project.
