Gemotions

The sound was like a bomb going off, followed by the shattering of glass. Michael raced outside, the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He saw the huge, splintered oak on his neighbor's lawn, its roots ripped from the earth. He felt a wave of relief that his house was untouched, instantly followed by a shiver of anxiety.

He turned to look at his own house and yard, instantly noticing all the things that he wished he could change. The slightly crooked mailbox. The fading paint on the trim. His own yard was a disaster.

He took a step back, wanting to get away from the scene. He knew he had to talk to his neighbor, but his feet refused to move.
