The silence in the classroom was deafening. Anna’s name was on the list. The list of students under investigation. The blood drained from her face as she sat at her desk, staring at the empty notebook in front of her.

She found herself replaying the events of that semester in her mind, the frantic research, the sleepless nights, the moments where she took the easier path. The world seemed to shrink around her. It was a suffocating feeling.

She wanted to disappear, to melt into the floor. She gripped her pen so hard the plastic creaked. She just wanted to go home and never come back. The shame was a physical entity.
