The anonymous card, tucked between a bill and a flyer for pizza, seemed to weigh him down. He barely glanced at the generic birthday wishes before tossing it onto the already cluttered kitchen table. He was already questioning everything: his career, his relationship, the way he'd let the weeds overtake his garden.

He avoided his reflection, knowing it would only confirm his growing sense of unease. He felt a nagging sensation of inadequacy, like he wasn't doing enough, being enough. He went back outside, determined to tackle those weeds. It was the least he could do.
